Everybody knows that one of the most important aspects of running a successful business is keeping employees happy. When employees are happy, they produce and when they produce your business grows. Part of keeping your team happy is offering great benefits. The law provides businesses with minimum requirements, but in today’s market for top talent, minimal efforts won’t get you far in the eyes of potential new employees.
At TitleSmart, we offer benefits that go well above and beyond what is required because we know that employees or job candidates have choices when it comes to where they work. We put a lot of time and thought into the benefits that we offer and are always looking for new ways to make our employees feel appreciated for the work that they do. Here are a couple of examples of the unique benefits that we offer:
- Paid Time Off (PTO)
- We have a different definition of PTO when compared to most companies. At TitleSmart, our PTO program rolls paid sick days and vacation days into one bank that employees can use however they choose. We allow employees to roll over their PTO each year, and we also give them the option to “cash out” and get paid for up to 40 hours of PTO if they choose.
- Birthday PTO
- We added birthday PTO to our benefits package because we feel that it is a day that you should be able to take off of work and enjoy. If a birthday lands on a holiday or a weekend, then the employee can use it whenever they would like.
- Feed the Smarties
- Each office receives a delivery of healthy breakfast, lunch, and snack items every other week. We want to make sure our employees have easy access to nutritious food throughout the day while they’re at work.
- Sabbatical
- After five years of service, our employees receive an additional 15 days of paid vacation plus $5,000 in travel expenses. It’s our way of saying thank you and ensuring that our team members can take time off and explore.
I realize that not every company can offer these types of benefits, and not all of these would appeal to employees across all industries, but that’s why it’s important to talk with your employees about what is most important to them. By getting feedback from your employees, you can determine which benefits are most important to them. You may also discover that some of your benefits are underutilized or unneeded, and that gives you the opportunity to move that money over to a new benefit that makes more sense for your employees.
